The dog behind the name

Enjoy is far more than a handsome Australian Shepherd or a successful sports dog. He has a personality all his own, with all the traits and little quirks that make him so special. And that is exactly the dog I want to introduce here – honestly, authentically and just as I experience him every day.

Everyday life

Enjoy is a dog who can get excited about almost anything. With his strong play drive and his love of shared activities, he is up for any fun. At the same time, he is pleasantly calm in the house, switches off wonderfully and settles down easily.

One of his most endearing traits is his helpfulness. Enjoy loves taking on little tasks. Whether he gets to pick up something that has fallen down or go looking for a lost shoe – he joins in with enthusiasm and is delighted when he can help.

He shares his everyday life with my Australian Shepherd female Maybe and my Shih Tzu–Maltese mix Püppi. Together, the three of them are a firm part of my life.

With people and other animals

Enjoy meets people in a friendly, open way. What I find especially lovely is his feel for whoever he is with. Around children or elderly people he is naturally a little more careful and adapts his behaviour to the situation.

He is also friendly, open and socially easy-going with other dogs. It makes no difference to him whether they are big or small.

Even in my rabbits’ enclosure, Enjoy is always respectful and careful. I particularly value this ability to adapt his behaviour to different creatures and situations.

At work

As soon as we start working together, Enjoy is attentive and enthusiastic from the very first moment. He can be motivated for all kinds of tasks, has excellent powers of concentration and likes to work closely with me.

I particularly appreciate his ability to stay focused even with distractions. Neither a busy environment nor loud noises easily throw him off. At trials, too, he is steady in temperament and reliably engages in our work together.

Besides focused work on the training ground, Enjoy loves one thing above all: exercise. He runs happily alongside the bike and regularly joins me jogging in a pulling harness – a chance to really live out his joy of running.

His little quirks

For Enjoy, the world sometimes just doesn’t seem big enough. He loves to run, discover new things and be out and about. On walks he is a curious little explorer whom I can still rely on at any time. If he spots other dogs, for example, he comes back to me of his own accord without my having to call him.

And then there is his great passion for water. No pond or lake is safe from Enjoy! He loves swimming and, if need be, would lie down in a garden pond like a crocodile – as long as he can get into the water.

As adventurous as he is outdoors, he loves his cosy rituals at home. One of his absolute favourite spots is his armchair. There he rests his head on the armrest and calmly watches through the window what is happening out on the street. Even when other dogs walk past the house, he usually stays relaxed and sees no reason to bark about it.

It is exactly this mix of joie de vivre, curiosity, reliability and inner calm that makes Enjoy so special to me.
